As per the official data, the infection is seen across the western US and the South, especially in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The positivity rate in the mentioned states has been reaching up to 23 percent, according to the federal health agency.
Along with this, the region that covers California, Nevada, and Arizona has an open rate nearing 18 percent.
The major concern linked to the sudden surge of the infection is the FLiRT variant, which includes KP variants, which are responsible for almost 80 percent of the COVID-19 cases.
