Listeria Contamination Alert, Goldenway Enoki Mushrooms Recalled

United States: A risk of Listeria monocytogenes contamination has been prevailing. Recently, experts recalled Goldenway International Trade Co. Ltd.’s Enoki Mushrooms from the marketplace as there is a high chance of contamination.

The recall was triggered by the test results concluded by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The details regarding the contamination was shared by the CFIA, which underlined that the recalled products were distributed in some provinces and territories in Canada, including Ontario and Quebec.

Furthermore, the agency shared the details regarding the recalled products. Accordingly, the name of the product was Enoki Mushroom with approximate size of 200 g and the UPC and Codes of the product was 8 807076 001670 and CE 06 7D, respectively.

As of now, the health authorities have not reported any illness linked to this recall and consumption of the product. Additionally, the experts asked the public to check whether they have recalled products – if they have any, they are advised not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled products.

Along with this, the instructions by the agency also briefed the consumers to return or throw out the recalled item, if purchased.  

How Can Listeria Infections Be Explained?

The health experts have mentioned that if contaminated food item is consumed by individuals, they can develop symptoms of Listeria infections and they must seek medical treatment and doctor assistance, as soon as possible. It is to be noted that the contaminated food with Listeria monocytogenes many not look or smell spoiled but can consist severe and life-threatening infections.

In addition to this, the health agency has also asked the public to monitor themselves for symptoms if they have eaten any recalled products. The symptoms must be nicely monitored during the coming weeks as it can take as many as 70 days after exposure to the infection to develop symptoms.

Accordingly, the symptoms linked to Listeria infection can include persistent fever, muscle aches, vomiting, nausea, severe headache, and neck stiffness. The health experts mentioned that specific tests must be conducted to diagnose Listeria infections. The people who are prone to the infection are pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and people who have weakened immune systems. And in case of infected pregnant women, the infection can be seen in the new baby.
